Everyone at least once heard in his life the words “Green Revolution” not as many could say to have heard about the “Brown Revolution”. The first revolution characterized the way of guaranteeing food production through new technologies such as improved crop varieties (HYVs) developed and widely used in developing countries in the middle of the 20th century.

Call for papers - IWREC - 10th Annual Meeting International Water Resource Economics Consortium

The International Water Resource Economics Consortium (IWREC) is the premiere global platform for water economists to initiate, share, disseminate and debate new research on water economics. The IWREC 10th Annual Meeting (28-29 August) will be hosted by the Stockholm International Water Institute and held during the 2012 World Water Week in Stockholm. It will feature a Chief Economists Panel debate, keynote speeches and presentations from leading experts in the application of economic analysis in water management and decision making.

RALCEA y EUROCLIMA-AGUA. Participación en el seminario "Raising awareness and enhancing the adaptive capacity of water resources planning and management to climate change impacts” UNESCO Noviembre 14-15, 2011

The International Seminar was co-organised by the French Water Academy and UNESCO drawing upon a steering committee constituted of 9 relevant institutions. This seminar aimed at identifying solutions to be forwarded to the 6th World Water Forum and to the main events of climate negotiations (Durban, Rio+20, etc.).

Señor Presidente, Excelencias, Señoras y Señores

Nuestro sistema climático ha sido seriamente perturbado y muchos países están pagando un precio altísimo y creciente debido a ello.

Señor Presidente, permítame ilustrar lo que está ocurriendo en mi propio país con un gráfico - que está siendo distribuido - que muestra cómo a lo largo de los últimos 50 años pasamos de ser impactados por un evento hidrometereológico extremo por década en los años 1960 y 1970, a nueve en los últimos diez años.
