The International Seminar was co-organised by the French Water Academy and UNESCO drawing upon a steering committee constituted of 9 relevant institutions. This seminar aimed at identifying solutions to be forwarded to the 6th World Water Forum and to the main events of climate negotiations (Durban, Rio+20, etc.). The solutions are intended to help water basin managers to improve, with the aid of applicable tools and methodologies, their adaptive capacities in order to reduce uncertainties or to integrate those uncertainties in short and long term predictions for surface and groundwater systems.

59 representatives of National and International Institutions and Organisations attended the Seminar. Notably, Environment and Water Agencies, Ministries from different countries,  Higher Education Institutions, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the United Nations Economic Commissions for Europe (UNECE), Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the International Groundwater Resources Assessment Center, the World Water Assessment Programme (WWAP-UNESCO), the International Center for Integrated Water Resources Management (ICIWaRM) and the International Network of Basin Organizations (INBO/CGAAER)
