The African Monitoring of Environment for Sustainable Development (AMESD) programme has organized a “Conference on the Use of Earth Observation to Support Environmental Policy Making in Africa”, with the objective to promote an active, informed and sustainable participation of African governments in global environment surveillance initiatives.
A delegation of the ACP and EU parliaments is visiting the JRC units for getting further information about the JRC activities in the ACP (Africa, Caribbean and Pacific) countries.

The China Europe Water Platform (CEWP) will promote the policy dialogue at the Wolrd Water Forum 6 between China and Europe about challenges, possible solutions and activities related to the water, food security and energy nexus.
AMESD will organize a “Conference on the Use of Earth Observation to Support Environmental Policies in Africa”, from 22 to 23 May 2012 in Addis Ababa, on the theme “Showcase the use of AMESD services for policy making”.
International World Water Day is held annually on 22 March as a means of focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources.
Waterwise conducts an annual conference on water efficiency. This year’s conference will be held in Oxford on the 21st and 22nd of March, coinciding with the World Water Day. The theme of the conference this year is ‘Engaging water users’. The conference has a great line up of speakers and penetrating panel discussions.

The NEPAD Western African Network of Centres of Excellence on water held in Dakar a technical meeting for the launching of its activities in the support program funded by the European Union.

The 2012 World Water Week will be held under the theme “Water and Food Security” August 26-31, 2012 in Stockholm, Scandinavia’s expanding metropolitan capital on the waters of the Baltic Sea.
The International Water Resource Economics Consortium (IWREC) is the premiere global platform for water economists to initiate, share, disseminate and debate new research on water economics. The IWREC 10th Annual Meeting (28-29 August) will be hosted by the Stockholm International Water Institute and held during the 2012 World Water Week in Stockholm.
The objective of the Conference is to secure renewed political commitment for sustainable development, assess the progress to date and the remaining gaps in the implementation of the outcomes of the major summits on sustainable development, and address new and emerging challenges
The Conference will focus on two themes: (a) a green economy in the context of sustainable development and poverty eradication; and (b) the institutional framework for sustainable development.
The African Water Association is pleased to announce its 16th Water and Sanitation Congress in partnership with Office national de l'eau potable (ONEP) and Association marocaine de l'eau potable et de l'assainissement (AMEPA), which will be held in Marrakech in Morocco from 20 to 23 February 2012 devoted to the theme:
"Collaborative mechanisms and innovations for sustainable development of water and sanitation sector in Africa".
The EGU General Assembly 2012 will bring together geoscientists from all over the world into one meeting covering all disciplines of the Earth, Planetary and Space Sciences. Especially for young scientists, it is the aim of the EGU to provide a forum where they can present their work and discuss their ideas with experts in all fields of geosciences. The congress is organised by IWA and it is dedicated to finding sustainable, practical and cost effective policies with extreme weather conditions and water/energy scarcity issues addressed jointly in search of the most favourable long term balanced solution both at local and at global level.
