The specific objectives of this component of the BASAL project (implemented by the Joint Research Centre (JRC) together with the Cuban Institutions partners), in consistency with the above overall objectives of the project, are:

To improve the knowledge about the impacts of climate variability, climate change and land use change processes on food production, water availability and socio-economic development.
To provide stakeholders and decision-makers with tools to support informed decision-making regarding water resources, particularly to guaranty the sustainable long-term food production and suitable socio-economic development, and more in general regarding agricultural management of cropping systems to adapt to projected climate scenarios.
