The Institute of Natural Resources NPC (INR) is a reputable environmental management Non-profit Company, with a team of leading scientists. The INR was formed thirty-two years ago with the aim of contributing to the effective management of natural resources and  undertakes multidisciplinary research, knowledge development and capacity building that supports and actions the wise use of natural resources in pursuit of sustainability for the good of environment and society.

The company has the following vacancies:
PRINCIPAL SCIENTIST: WATER RESOURCES & BIODIVERSITY
The applicant must be a South African citizen and have at least a Master of Science degree and 10 years experience in water resource management.
The position requires conceptual understanding of integrated water resource management, with experience ranging from the application of water resource policies to baseline studies and the monitoring of ecosystems. Skill in a biophysical speciality such as aquatic ecology, water quality, geohydrology, hydrology or riparian vegetation is also required. Excellent communication and reporting skills in English, interpersonal and teamwork skills are a pre-requisite. The applicant must demonstrate the ability to lead large studies, supervise and mentor staff, manage sub-consultants and review reports.
The applicant must submit a detailed curriculum vitae with a reference list for reports and publications. The applicant must also either have, or be eligible for, registration as a professional scientist.
The remuneration package for this position commences from R500 000 total cost to employer depending on qualifications and experience.

 

SCIENTIST: WATER RESOURCES & BIODIVERSITY
The applicant must be a South African citizen and have a Master of Science degree with experience being an advantage.
The position requires a natural science qualification covering courses in aquatic or wetland ecology. Knowledge of aquatic systems and assessment tools, and the ability to conduct ecological assessments is required. A botanical background and interest would be an advantage. GIS training would complement this position. Excellent communication and reporting skills in English are a pre-requisite.
