Presentation of the World Drought Atlas at the UNCCD COP16 in Riyadh

The World Drought Atlas has been presented at the 16th Conference of the Parties (COP) of the UNCCD in Riyadh. The document was elaborated by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) and the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), with the support of scientific partners from CIMA Research Foundation, United Nations University, and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. The Atlas highlights the nature of drought as a global threat, emphasizing that it is not just a natural disaster, but also a result of human intervention and poor management of water and land resources.
