Expert meeting "Water and Education, towards strategies with impact"

Participation to the expert meeting. Dear Mr., Mrs, Your organization is selected as an important resource in the field of Water and Education, and - with your help - we are looking for 40-50 experts from Europe and North America to participate and contribute to our two-day expert meeting "Water and Education, towards strategies with impact", held on 26-27 February 2009 at UNESCO-IHE, Delft, The Netherlands. This event is one of five regional workshops, covering the globe, under auspicien of UNESCO-IHP, focussed on experiences and best practices. The topics that will be covered during this workshop are: 1. Tertiary education and professional development of water scientist, engineers, managers and decision makers 2. Education and training of water technicians 3. Water education in schools 4. Community and stakeholder education 5. Water education for mass-media professionals Important questions for this workshop are: What is the role of formal and informal education in this respect and what makes water education successful? What demonstrable impacts can be shown and what are the lessons learned. What appear to be successful concepts and approaches and how were these 'enabled'? What can we learn from other educational areas? We are looking for knowledgeable people with experiences in programs, projects and practices around water and education (eg. public awareness campains, curricula development for all levels of formal education, public and private life long learning services for water professionals, etc.) If you have a relevant contact, please inform us as soon as possible about his/her name, email address, organisation, relevant topic of experience.
