Dear Nexus thinkers,

The upcoming years will be critical for climate action. In order to successfully tackle the challenges ahead, it is evident that the strong nexus between water, energy, and food in the context of our changing climate needs to be addressed. The Nexus Regional Dialogues programme is excited to announce that we will be hosting two sessions at the first ever Water Pavilion at COP26!

The Water Pavilion aims to mobilize the water community and partners in the global climate action community in order elevate ideas and solutions to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement. The Water Pavilion programme is hosting a wide range of events demonstrating the numerous ways that water is enabling transformative climate action.

Our first session is titled “Fueling synergies through the Water-Energy Nexus – honoring Energy Day at the Water Pavilion”.

We have lined up a really exciting range of speakers, including representatives of policy-makers and researchers:

  • Cate Lamb, Global Director of Water Security at Carbon Disclosure Project and UFCCC COP26
  • Eng. Bashar Bataineh, Secretary General of the Water Authority of Jordan
  • Beatrice Cyiza, Director General of Environment and Climate Change of the Ministry of Environment of Rwanda
  • Claudia Ringler, Deputy Division Director & Senior Research Fellow at the International Food Policy Research Institute, IFPRI
  • Michael Webber, University of Texas

The session will be moderated by Molly Walton, Energy and Transport Manager at “We Mean Business” Coalition.

Date: Wednesday, November 3rd at 9-10am GMT (10-11am GMT+1)

Please find more details here.

The session will be free of charge and livestreamed on YouTube. The link will be embedded on the Water Pavilion page, under ‘Watch Live’ on the top right.

Furthermore, please find a document attached to this email outlining all the events that GIZ is participating in at the Water Pavilion. Please share this invitation throughout your network!

We look forward to seeing many of you at our session!
