Questioning current conditions, working collaboratively and developing innovative solutions are key to successful delivery of water and sanitation services and water cycle management in low and middle income countries. At the same time, tackling these challenges also provides professionals with significant opportunities to innovate, strengthen service provision and create new businesses.

The biennial IWA Development Congress presents a unique platform for committed professionals, practitioners, development focused agencies and NGOs to share their latest experiences and insights.

With the overarching theme 'Pioneering Water Solutions in Urbanising Areas', the Congress focuses on issues ranging from appropriate technology solutions to broader enabling mechanisms such as governance, finance systems, capacity development and stakeholder mobilisation.

The Congress aims to:

  • Foster in-depth debates on innovative solutions at the frontier of water and sanitation management and urban development.
  • Enable new partnerships across geographical boundaries and areas of expertise
  • Provide access to the latest best practice experiences and scientific findings.
  • Catalyse new insights and foresight through the exchange of ideas and sharing lessons learned.

Through these efforts, IWA aims to create a positive impact on poverty reduction, economic growth, human health and environmental sustainability in urban areas throughout the world.

800 delegates from the water and sanitation sector in low and middle income countries are expected and the exhibitors will be drawn from the following sectors:
