As a part of the XVIIth CIGR World Congress that will be held on June 13-17, 2010, in Quebec City, Canada (www.cigr2010.ca), the 13th Inter-Regional Conference on Land, Environment and Water, entitled “Land, Water & Environment Management” will be an integral activity of CIGR-Section I: Land and Water Engineering.

Fresh water and land for food production have become scarcer all over the world, both in quantity and quality, due to increasing population and economic activity. To improve land and water planning, policies, measures and practices must be identified for sustainable use of resources and appropriate control of environmental risks.  Scientists, engineers and managers from many countries have produced a variety of modern technologies and decision tools and practices that contribute to improved land and water management.

The 13th Inter-Regional Conference “EnviroWater 2010” is a forum for scientists, engineers and managers of water, land and environment. Topics include strategies and technologies to improve the use of resources in order to achieve improved productivity and sustainable rural development, without risks for health.  Specific topics are described on the Congress web site under Technical program, Section I.

With your participation, we are confident that the World Congress and the Conference EnviroWater 2010 will be great successes.  CIGR Section I is under the leadership of Professor José Tarjuelo (Spain), Prof. Pat D. Taylor (USA) and Prof. Guanhua Huang (China).  Dr. Gerrit-Jan Carsjens (Netherlands) and Dr.Guido D’Urso (Italy) will also serve on the Scientific Committee along with Dr. Huang. \
