Announcement of a consultative workshop within the SADC-region for the water-science sector
1. Desired outcomes of Consultative workshop [FOR INTERNAL COMMUNICATION]
We would like to bring experts from the water-sector together, within the SADC-Region. Based on JLP 1.1-1.4, we are going to share knowledge; break in groups; unpack; feedback, and then summarise.
We want to improve the process, and identify gaps. Build capacity so that nations now need, and to assist donors to co-ordinate funding. Enabling countries.
2. Advanded communication. [FOR EXTERNAL COMMUNCIATION ONE WE HAVE FINALISED IT]
The NEPAD Southern African Water Centres of Excellence (SANWATCE) is an empowerment entity to assist water sector partners to implement AMCOW/AMCOST policy by facilitating research; training, capacity building and networking between institutions in the water-sector of the SADC-region.
We are currently funded by the European Commission; South African Department of Science and Technology and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Preamble: NEPAD WCoE
1. We are here to consolidate and come to a regional agreement on what we think a Sector Wide Approach (SWAp) is for the sector in SADC;
2. We have completed a task where we asked experts to give ideas on skills gaps in the region. Our findings are incomplete and we are looking at this workshop to get your expert inputs to validate our existing findings and to fill in the skills audit gaps.
3. We have completed a task where we were asked to consider an appropriate communication strategy that will support SWAp and as we believe that Knowledge Management(KM) is central to the success to the NEPAD WCoE, we have given some thought as to what a Knowledge Management System (KMS) should look like and how this contribute to strengthening our sector.
4. We have come to the point where we need your expert input to take the Communication and Knowledge Management Strategies forward.
5. We cannot do this with you. We would like to present Communication Strategy to you and some ideas on how Communication Strategy might be approached.
6. We also want to use this opportunity to reinforce the significance of the WCoE in the region.
7. There will be a process of regional workshops in August 2012 and we need you to help us identify content and role-players
