This workshop is the second of a series of three workshops to be held in 2013 in Western Africa tentatively:

1.      Abuja, Nigeria - February 11 – 15, 2013

2.      Accra, Ghana - April 22 – 26, 2013

3.      Dakar, Senegal, June 24  – 28, 2013 (tentative)

In this second Workshop the following themes will be addressed:

World Water Day is held annually on 22 March as a means of focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources.

Hosted by the NEPAD Southern African Network of Water Centres of Excellence (SANWATCE), in conjunction with the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre, this e-Conference will take place during the United Nations’ World Water Day on 22 March 2013 as part of the UN International Year for Water Cooperation.

Through its global network of Centres of Excellence in Water Science and Technology, this JRC event (funded by DG EUROPEAID) aimed at exchanging and disseminating good practises in water resources management among experts from Africa (African Union/NEPAD Networks of Water Centres of Excellence), Latin America (RALCEA), China (EU-China plateform) and Europe (JRC and other European experts).

The objective of this course is to present the diseases and health issues related to water. Different types of water related diseases and how they are transmitted will be presented. This will be followed by prevention strategies which can be employed to minimize the transmission of these diseases.
