The International Water Association (IWA) is pleased to announce the winners of the 2013 IWA Project Innovation Awards – Development.

 

This event is organized in the framework of the European Commission (EC) support project to the African Union/NEPAD Networks of Water Centers of Excellence implemented by the EC Joint Research Centre (JRC). This is the final workshop of a series of workshops held in 2013 in Western Africa.

This workshop will encounter the joint contribution of the Western and of the Southern NEPAD Networks of Centers of Excellence in Water Science and Technology.

Various international bodies are engaged in the assessment of existing and the elaboration of future water-related development goals, including an SDG. With a view to assess and summarise these activities as well as to provide guidance for future work the Government of Hungary, in cooperation with the UN system and the World Water Council, organises a global conference: the Budapest Water Summit in Budapest, the capital city of Hungary, between 8-11 October 2013.

This workshop is the second of a series of three workshops to be held in 2013 in Western Africa tentatively:

1.      Abuja, Nigeria - February 11 – 15, 2013

2.      Accra, Ghana - April 22 – 26, 2013

3.      Dakar, Senegal, June 24  – 28, 2013 (tentative)

In this second Workshop the following themes will be addressed:

The overall objective of the project is to support Cuba’s adaptation to climate change by improving the country's long-term food security, and so contributing to the country's sustainable economic and social development. To this aim, the project will include:

* The identification and alleviation of climate change impacts, which affect major national food production and agricultural systems.

* The promotion of good/best practices and provision of useful and accessible information which eventually help farmers produce food in a sustainable manner.

Durante el taller se estan identificando y analizando las necesidades de los gobiernos de America Latina y Cuba en el sector de Calidad de Agua y Saneamiento. Los centros de excelencia RALCEA y los Puntos Focales de RALCEA (representantes de gobiernos latino-americanos en el sector del Agua) discuten sobre necesidades y ofertas a nivel de capacitacion y priorizacion de proyectos en el sector.

Los resultados se socializaran atraves de AQUAKNOW.

 

El Taller "Mapeo de Actores y Participación" de RALCEA está articulado en torno a la identificación de necesidades de los representantes gubernamentales de América Latina en el Sector del Agua. Estas necesidades concretas se discuten con los centros de excelencia de RALCEA con el objetivo de cubrir necesidades con respuestas concretas de los centros.
