The International Water Association (IWA) is pleased to announce the winners of the 2013 IWA Project Innovation Awards – Development.


Nexus thinking is a new way of thinking that recognises the crucial interdependence of water, energy and food -- a relationship that forms the core of the Environment Nexus project. This new IIEA video explores the deep interconnections between the three essential resources and highlights the need for nexus thinking to help meet the world's needs, as it grows from 7 to 9 billion by 2050.

World Water Day is held annually on 22 March as a means of focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources.

Through its global network of Centres of Excellence in Water Science and Technology, this JRC event (funded by DG EUROPEAID) aimed at exchanging and disseminating good practises in water resources management among experts from Africa (African Union/NEPAD Networks of Water Centres of Excellence), Latin America (RALCEA), China (EU-China plateform) and Europe (JRC and other European experts). was not present at the World Water Forum 2012 but managed to persuade a participating journalist to share several interesting interviews relating to the various aspects of the EU Water Initiative.  Please watch these interviews, and share your feedback in the comment box.

The Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission together with DEVCO's support are organising an International Workshop on "Exchange of experiences in water resources management between Europe/China/Africa/Latin America".

This event is organised in the framework of the European Commission (EC) support project to the Africa Union/NEPAD Networks of Water Centres of Excellence implemented by the JRC.
