Nexus, Digitalisation and Human Capital for a Green-Deal in Transboundary Waters

EDD-21 LAB DEBATE June 16 2021 at 15H15 to 15H50

Transboundary Watersheds are key contexts for EU’s Green Deal to protect the Environment, address Climate Change challenges and invest in R&D and human capital to promote sustainable youth employment. The Joint Research Centre (JRC) and transboundary river basin organisations will address concrete development issues, the WEFE NEXUS approach to facilitate a multi-sectorial cooperation and policy dialogues, the decision support tools in the context of new technologies (i.e. Copernicus) and improved connectivity to facilitate sharing information and better data to support development policies, economic planning and youth employment. This is underpinned by the work of UNESCO and the Centres of Excellence in Human Capacity Development in Africa by addressing gaps, updating education and training for a new management, better water supply and sanitation services and skills to match a green economy for a greener environment.

The Lab Debate co-organised by the JRC and UNESCO-IHP will be held in the frame of the European Development Days (EDD-21) this Wednesday, June 16 2021 at 15H15 to 15H50
